Jubilee Dinner
We will be inviting all the children to join us in a Celebration Jubilee Dinner on Wednesday 30th May.  The cost of the meal will be £2.00 and the usual school menu will not be used that day.  A letter regarding this meal was sent out earlier last week, please complete the tear off slip and return to school with payment ASAP if your child would like to take part.

Pupil Illness During Term Time
Please note that  The Guidance on Infection Control in Schools states that  it is  recommended that children do not return to school for 48 hours following their last episode of any diarrhoea or vomiting.  This would be classed as an authorised illness absence.

Cardboard Boxes
Please could cereal size boxes be sent in for year 2.


Olympic Torch

Line the Streets We have been asked by the Assistant Advance Manager for the Olympic Torch Relay to encourage as many local residents as possible to line the streets that the torch will travel along. Residents are also being encouraged to make maracas and shakers, hang bunting, bake flame ‘cone-cakes’, plant golden marigolds, dress up in gold and make some noise to welcome and celebrate the Olympic Torch.

Please note that a separate letter has been sent out recently regarding the early closure of school on Thursday 31st May.

Early Closure of School on Thursday 31st May
As you will be aware school is closing at 2.45pm on Thursday 31st May, we would recommend that where possible parents/guardians walk to school to collect their children as we have been informed that there will be various activities going on along the route of the Olympic Torch.

Face Painting
Please return the face painting permission slips to school ASAP in order for your child to have their face painted on the Olympic Torch Day.

Donations For Samira
Please remember to send in your donations for Samira, just 10 pence a week from each child in school makes a tremendous difference to Samira’s life.  We would like to link this term’s Christian Value of Justice with Samira.

Year 5 and 6 End of Term Production
The year 5 and 6 end of term production will take place on Monday 16th July, there will be two shows during the day.  The afternoon production will be at 2pm and the evening at 6.15pm.

The Old Building Open Afternoon
On Thursday 14th June from 2pm there will be an open afternoon in the old building.  Everyone is welcome to come along and share their memories.

Nail Polish
Could we please remind parents and pupils that nail polish is NOT allowed to be worn by pupils in school.

School Photographs
Please could all class photograph orders be returned to school by Thursday 24th May.

New Dinner Menus
If your child would like school meals after half term please return their new menu to school ASAP.

Well done Reception on your brilliant Mother’s Day Assembly yesterday.

Bingo
We will be holding an Easter Bingo on Wednesday evening. All pupils and their families and friends are welcome at this fantastic funfilled family event. Eyes down at 6.30pm in the school hall. Please note that all pupils must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Lowton Ball
The Friends of St Luke’s and The Friends of St Mary’s are hosting a Spring Ball on Saturday 21st April at The Rose Centre (formerly Lowton Civic Hall). The ball will include a four course dinner with coffee and mints, event photography, a fully licensed bar, 7pm till late, and music from the Deadbeats. Tickets cost £30 per head and group bookings are available – please contact 07805362478 for tickets.

Volunteer Reading Helpers
If anyone is able to spare some time each week to listen to the infant children reading please contact Miss Morgan. Please note that in order to volunteer to help in school a CRB check will be carried out by the school.

Wanted
If anyone has any outdoor toys that they no longer use or need and are able to donate them to our Reception class please see Miss Morgan.

Old Football Kits
If anyone has any unwanted or old football kits Mrs Alex Campbell is collecting them for the Malawi Volunteer Workers to take out to Malawi. If you have any unwanted kits please contact Mrs Campbell.

Sainsburys Vouchers
We are now collecting Sainsburys vouchers in school.

Buy a Personalised Brick
If you would like to buy a brick for the personalised brick wall which will be part of our new building please return your order form and payment to school ASAP. Friends of the school, Church and community are also welcome to buy bricks, please contact the school office for further details. Please note that you can have fourteen characters per line including spaces and a maximum of two lines per brick.

Class Assemblies

Year 3 – Thursday 22nd March

All parents, carers and grandparents are welcome at our coffee morning in the infant library prior to the assemblies starting and seats will be reserved in the hall for anyone attending the coffee morning.

Parking
Please could parents, carers and grandparents be courteous to the neighbours when parking in the local streets. Please avoid blocking peoples drives and double parking.

Thank you to everyone who sent in money for The Children’s Society, £79.94 was raised by school.

Christmas Parties
Pupils can come to school in their own clothes on their Christmas Party Day, please make sure that your child wears sensible clothes and footwear as the school time table and playtimes will run as usual during the morning.

Buy a Personalised Brick

St Luke’s Church Christmas Tree Festival
Thank you to everyone who supported the Christmas Tree Festival at Church, the trees looked fantastic.

Christmas Competition
Once again we are running our annual Christmas Competition, five different Christmas pictures/symbols have appeared recently on the newsletter.  To enter the competition please complete the entry form on the bottom of this Newsletter and return to school by Tuesday 20th December.  The competition will be drawn on Wednesday 21st December (last day of school).

Dinner Money
Please note that Dinner Money is now £2.00 per day or £10.00 per week. Cheques should be made payable to WMBC St Luke’s School and all meals should be paid for in advance.

Music Lessons
Music lessons will begin again this week.  There will be 6 lessons this half term at a cost of £29.10 (£4.85 per lesson), cheques should be made payable to WMBC St Luke’s School.

Snack Money
Snack money is now payable for this half term.  Milk and snack costs £12.50, snack only £5.00 and milk only £7.50.  Cheques should be made payable to WMBC St Luke’s School.

Thank You
We would like to thank all parents/carers/grandparents for their support this term.  It has been lovely to see so many of you at our Class Assemblies, Nativities and Carol Concerts.  Your help with learning lines and carols has been fantastic and the number of raffle tickets sold by our families this year has been outstanding.  On behalf of all the staff at St Luke’s I would like to wish you all a very merry Christmas and a happy, healthy and peaceful New Year.  We look forward to seeing all the pupils back in school on Tuesday 10th January.

Mr Sherriff
Finally we would like to wish Mr Sherriff success and happiness as Deputy Head at his new school. We will all miss Mr Sherriff very much and would like to thank him for all his hard work at St Luke’s.
